Flashback

The Work Diaries started off with a dream, literally, I woke up one morning and thought to myself, why is dressing for work such a low priority for some people!

Magazines, blogs and other forms of media are always telling us what to wear outside of work. Unfortunately the truth is that we spend majority of our day/life at work.

We have to work to live.

The Work Diaries aim is to give you new ideas on what to wear to work. By dressing differently to work it can give you more confidence, get noticed more, and your entire persona can change for the better.

Below is the very first picture I ever posted. I am wearing a Rise of Dawn dress with black Wittner boots. The dress' print is quite dramatic and matched with leather sleeves it sure gets some looks. I've toned down the dress by wearing black stockings, and accessorising it it with Forevernew's belt and gold bracelet.

Hope you like it. Love TWD xo

It's just another manic Monday

Take the stress out of your Monday morning by organising your outfit the night before. I love wearing a dress to work because it's uncomplicated and easy. You can literally just throw it on, find a coat and accessorises and you’re ready to go!

I've styled an Alice McCall Dress with Andie Meredith's Waffle Jacket. The dress is structured and goes well with the slightly oversized silhouette of the jacket. The colours complement each other and the outfit is aesthetically pleasing to the eye. I've added a black beaded Lovisa necklace and bracelet to finish off the look. Love TWD xo

Wanderlust

A must have piece in your office wear wardrobe this season is the Andie Meredith's Wanderlust Skirt. Andie has put the pedal to the metal and designed a shimmering skirt with a modern silhouette. This skirt is so on trend for the 2013/14 season; its out with the gold, and in the with the new! This skirt is made out of metal spandex so it not only looks good but it is also comfy to wear.

I have styled the skirt with red/silver accessories from Lovisa and paired it with Andie Merediths Black Top. This skirt is a statement piece and will make you shine bright like a diamond at work. Love TWD xo

Wednesday's Little Ray of Sunshine

Feeling happy? Well birghten up your work day with some mustard yellow! I've paired Andie Meredith's V T-Shirt with a faux leather skirt from Sportsgirl. Then I've styled the look with some bangles and cuff from Lovisa and belt from Forevernew. This outfit demands attention and screams playfull and youthfullness.

Try putting your hair into a low ponytail. It is a massive hair trend at the moment and shows that your here to do some work whilst still looking gorgeous at the same time. Tag The Work Diaries in a photo you've taken with a low pony tail. I can't wait to see how yours has turned out. Love TWD xo

Introducing Andie Meredith, Canberra Designer

Australian women's wear label, Andie Meredith is built around the creative mind of the designer and owner, Andie Meredith. Her latest collection, as showcased at FASHFEST 2013, features feminine silhouettes and modern prints. What's interesting about Andie Meredith is that her prints remain exclusive to Andie Meredith and are derived from personal artworks. Each artwork is a response to the designers inspiration, taken from nature, a reflection of life experiences and the processes and works of Scottish Artist, Designer and Architect, Charles Rennie Mackintosh.

I am loving Andie Meredith's World Ruling Pant and V T-Shirt. I've styled it with Forever News white blazer and belt, and gold accessories from Lovisa. This look makes an impact and is great for making a strong first impression. It would be perfect to wear on an interview, at a important meeting or when presenting. Love TWD xo

Faux Fur is the way to go!

Save a Chinchilla and wear Faux Fur! There are so many beautiful fur imitations on the high streets at the moment. They feel as amazingly soft and warm as real fur and cost you half the price. But its not only the price that should stop you from wearing real fur, the inhumane way in which these animals are treated is disgraceful and these fur farmers need to be stopped! This is just something to be aware of and don't stress out there are currently people out there trying to stop these fur farms. Just remember this saying 'Faux Fur is the way to go'! Love TWD xo

Guess who?

It is a piece of clothing.

It is something that everyone must have in their wardrobe.

It is versatile in style yet practical.

It is seen mostly in winter.

Its best friend is the wind.

Its sisters are the gloves and scarf.

Can you guess what piece of clothing it is?

THE COAT!!!!!!

No words can describe my love for forevernew's coat below. It is extremely flattering, sexy and stylish. It protects you from Canberra's elements and the colours are neutral so it goes with any outfit you choose to wear it with.

Styling Styling Styling

One outfit, two different looks! You don't need to keep buying and spending money on different clothes to update your wardrobe, all you need to do is change the styling of your look. Try wearing different colours, accessories, shoes or coat silhouettes (structured, flimsy etc) that you wouldn't usually wear. This can freshen the outfit and make it look brand new. Play with items in your wardrobe and try different combinations. Most of all just have fun with it and you will actually be surprised with how different your outfit looks.

Geometric Prints

How do you wear Geometric Prints to work?

Firstly you need to shop around to find the print you like. Shops like Cue, Sportsgirl and Zara are currently selling easy to wear dresses, shirts and pants in all kinds of different geometrical prints.

Once you have found the print/garment you want to work with (mine is a dress from Sportsgirl as seen below) you need to look at the tones within the print. I've style my dress with a white blazer and belt and black gloves and boots (all from forevernew). The accessories accentuate the print and make the dress the focal point of your look. I love this look because it is modern, feminine, and gets
lots of compliments from colleagues. Love TWD xo

Monotone

This season monotone is a massive trend, stores are already on board selling massive stocks of white and black garments and accessories. Get on board with FOREVERNEW's one piece pant suit. It is feminine, flattering and easy to wear. Accessorise it with a white belt from Sportgirl and a faux fur jacket from Style by Shez. Chuck on some high heel shoes and off you go ready to impress your work colleagues. Some little black gloves and small gold earrings would also go nicely with this look. Love TWD xo
